Book 38 of Year 2017 – “Cause” by Jackie and Kevin Freiberg

Official Title – Cause!: A Business Strategy for Standing Out in a Sea of Sameness

Genre – Non Fiction

Book Length – 205 pages

Reading Time – 6 hours

Style/ Plot – Jackie and Kevin write eloquently about policies and relationships that drive the productivity and usefulness of companies that impact the world positively.

I particularly like how they show the reader ways to invest in companies that are committed to causes the reader cares about.

A number of companies are discussed in this book but more reference is made to National Life and their commitment to growing free enterprise. “At National Life a movement is growing one relationship, one friend, one family, one business at a time.” So profound!

In this day and age, we all concerned with a company’s cause/ CSR/ values/ ethics. Various polls conducted show that people are willing to spend more on buying gods or services from companies that are aligned with causes they care about.

There were a number of questions posed that make you think deeply…especially about how

Favourite Quote – “Where do the financial and sustainability issues begin and end? What distinguishes sustainability performance from financial performance? Do you invest and reinvest more in sustainability performance or financial performance?”.

Rating – 4.5/5.
