The desire to want to be much more than you are is often erroneously categorised as lack of contentment and borderline covetousness.
You get the new role you’ve worked hard for but now, you realise you’re ready for the next step. I think that’s just sheer drive and ambition.
I acknowledge there is a thin line between sheer drive and greed. No doubt there are some people who will never be content with what they have. I’m not here to discuss that.
What I’m saying is this: the drive to be better today than you were yesterday is a good thing. Don’t quench the thirst for more.
Putting things into perspective ever so often helps create a system where you’re constantly improving and making measurable progress…Kaizen.
Let’s not fool ourselves into thinking there’s great satisfaction to be derived in just standing still.
Contentment is not gluttony. Contentment is fulfilment…being happy where you are on the way to where you want to be.
