I am a card carrying member of the Fit Fam Club (shout out to my Fit Fam) and I strongly advocate for a healthy eating lifestyle despite being a world renown foodie myself.
With all the preventable health issues that can arise from an unwise choice of meals, I stay on track of what I put into my body by using an app called myfitnesspal to monitor what goes into my body.
When the opportunity to review the Daniel plan arose, I seized it with open arms and a huge smile on my face…I really do enjoy reading Rick Warren’s books as he writes in such a way that the reader finds it relatively easy to follow.
The Daniel Plan is no different in style and it includes contribution from doctors (Dr. Mark Hyman and Dr. Daniel Amen). It gives us a background on why Warren decides to put all the recommendation down on paper and how the plan has helped him and many members of his church successfully reduce their weight and maintain the reduction.
It is not your average ‘how to lose 10kg in 10 days’ kind of book, it is actually much more result oriented book as it provides detailed 360 degree guidelines on how to focus on different spheres of your life (Faith, Food, Fitness, Focus and Friends) to achieve your healthy lifestyle goal.
It gives information on the different types of food/drinks to avoid and goes further to give recipes that cater to both vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike.
Personally I make a conscious effort to avoid processed food and eat organic meals, this book has further reinforced my determination to eat healthy.
I know it is quite difficult for a lot of people to get the ingredients required to follow the meal plans in the book but difficult does not mean impossible. If you do this with a group of people as suggested, you could buy in bulk from local farmers at farmers’ markets (and do not deceive yourself that there are no farmers’ markets in your area…I live in central London where there are no farms yet there are about 6 farmers’ market days within 3 miles of my area).
In other news, how has 2015 been so far? Too early to ask right?
Have a fab day people!
