I still find it difficult to understand why I put my body through torturous exercises just so I can be beach body compliant (shout out to all the #teambeachbody boys and gals out there…I see you). After completing Shaun T’s insanity workout, I decided enough was enough…especially as my 6-pack abs refused to emerge. I don’t blame Shaun T though, I eat too much.
After a few weeks, I got tired of my big stomach and decided to join the local gym near my workplace. Na who send me message? I was introduced to a dude (Angus) who was gonna be my
slave driver trainer. When I first met Angus, I was deceived by his smile and thought he would go easy on me. Boy was I wrong! Dude should be in Kaduna Barracks or Ojo military cantonment and definitely not in these zones.
Yesterday’s workout was pure torture and I found myself speaking in tongues whilst wondering how possible it is that I am parting with my hard earned money for this punishment. Of the top of his head, he decided that I should do sets of push ups with 5kg dumbbells in each hand! Ladies and Gentlemen, I weigh 50kg o and dude wants me to have a tenth of my weight in my hands whilst pushing up! Arrant nonsense.
After all my shakara, I had to swallow my pride and get down to work (I still have no muscles to show for the torture). He then had the temerity to tell me that I need to step up my game. Step up my game? Does he know who I am? I definitely didn’t say this out loud, I just eyed him like any dignified Nigerian woman would.
In other news, Eid Mubarak to all my muslim friends (I am kinda sucking up to get fried ram meat though :)). As it is Eid today, I am reminded of how necessary it is to respect the beliefs and faith of others regardless of what I strongly believe as a Christian.
Have a fab weekend people!
